De leur entraînement d’infanterie aéroporté aux États-Unis en 1942 prendre le nid d’aigleHitler dans [1945 Passing by the Landing on D-Day and various clashes as bloody as they are famous.

The show is deeply realistic since it is based on the book of the same name by historian Stephen E. Ambrose.

Rendezvous with Destiny

Twenty-three years after his first broadcast on a French channelthe series continues to boost the tourism. And the actors, who return every year in the Cotentinhave never forgotten the men of Easy that they played on screen.

And this year 2024on the occasion of the 80e anniversary of the Landing, a handful of them will pay them an exceptional tribute.

“An original way to close the loop”

For ten days, some actors have returned to camp Toccoa (Editor’s note old military camp where the airborne troops of the 101 were trainede and 82e Airborne before being projected into Normandy) in Georgia for further training.

With one goal in mind: to win the parachutist certificate which will offer them the possibility of jump in june in Normandy from a C47, the Placid Lassie which participated in the drops in the night of June 5 to 6, 1944. The actors are supported in this process by an association of veterans, the All Airborne Battalion.

We had never jumped for real on the show, but we had done the same training. We thought it was an original way to come full circle by making this jump in June.

Alex Sabga-BradyHe played Corporal Frank Mellet

A feeling shared by many of his partners of the miniseries.

“All the members of the Easy Company are now deceased,” actor Nolan Hemmings (Charles Grant) told our colleagues at Fox News. We are here to honor their memories, remember what they did during the Second World War. The series put a huge spotlight on these men, united under enemy fire. »

In the footsteps of Easy Company

” THE veterans disappear one after the other and in a few years, in a few months, in a few weeks, they will no longer be there to testify, explains Alex Sabga-Brady. And when that happens, we will have to continue the duty of memory, so as to never forget their commitment. And allow future generations to understand. We cannot afford to forget. »

Their jump is, for the moment, scheduled for June 3 in Cotentin, at a location that has so far remained secret.

The actors will also take part in different commemorations scheduled for June 2 to 9. Some of them will even go so far as to sing a song during a concert on the Place de Sainte-Mère-Église.
